love happened tonight. on easter my family has always been plenty. found in the kitchen, on the lake, playing cards, snuggling on the couch. each year we'd have a big feast, as my niece would call it, with greens, and butter beans, and ham, and turkey (even tofurkey as my mother and father learned to navigate the lifestyles of their offspring). big food represented big love and big love was in abundance.
in the spirit of easter and love i am resting fully tonight knowing that i recreated that feeling of family in this house tonight.
it isn't easy to move to a new place and to make a community of people who want to share their lives - we, of course, are all so busy in our own.
this is what makes togetherness so significant. with a buffet of collards and cornbread, homemade pimiento cheese, beet salad, pork chops, asparagus, pasta salad, deviled eggs, and plenty of yummy beers to wash it all down with we shared stories with each other, traded skills and desires for learning, invited new people in, opened our hearts and expanded our community. to be able say our community feels so nice.
i have one - one made of people with big, big hearts and curious souls.
tonight i feel full of hope and security.
i look at sleeping sully and know that i am loved by many and that my love is welcomed in return.
what a wonderful easter gift to be able to love freely, without the reigns of restraint.
today i taught myself to play you are my sunshine...and sang it to myself.
happy easter silent readers, i hope you have the gift of love tonight too.
