113.

[nashville, tn. 106 degrees.]

[so much of the satisfying work of life begins as an experiment; having learned this, no experiment is ever quite a failure.  -alice walker]

this is the last day of the first month of my summer vacation. i have officially been summering for sixteen days. in these sixteen days i've done a lot of somethings with many fine folks between boston, dc, asheville, nashville, columbus, and will soon be expanding that dotted line trajectory to austin, new york, minneapolis, atlanta, and charleston before i decide to get back to life in boston.

in sixteen days i've learned some lessons on the nature of plans. they change, folks. still, it's mighty important to put yourself out there, work hard to craft your ideal. the process rises up to meet me again and this time around i found it necessary to give my life shifts and potential changes of address equal parts consideration from my head and my heart.

this time i've surprised myself. and then when i put all that plan making, goal setting, and far-reaching aside for a moment, i started enjoying myself.

i can't deny the me that i am though and that me is a planner. here it is, my new plan:

i aim to go after summer with the same wide-eyed abandon that the little dude in the photo possessed as he chased his brother under the sprinkler.
i aim to have myself some fun. to fill myself with enough love and inspiration from my dearests that it carries me through the bleakness of winter and plops me down right out on the other side stronger and hungry for the warmth of the sun.
