Q & A
remember, love, when I asked about the waves?
it was late and you were driving
because I never learned how to
shift gears.
***
if a lake
makes waves just like the sea
then my world has changed.
because
if we, or they
discover all the answers
then what of the mystery
that we, and maybe they,
have come to rely on
in this age
of maybes?
maybe it’s my fault.
maybe like he says I should truly
love the questions themselves
like secret rooms with
locked doors.
but maybe we are wrong for so many reasons.
maybe that expansiveness we spoke of
night driving down thirty-five
doesn’t come from the questions
or the waves.
maybe it dwells
within answers or
emerges unexpectedly in a
frisbee taking flight
between two
lovers hands.
